K9 Mac

End of Watch

2025-10-16

In 2023 | retired Mac because Mac started going blind. His eye sight quickly diminished and by 2024 he was fully blind. Even blind Mac could still hear tones and could tell when we needed him.

In 2024 | noticed Mac was having trouble with his back legs. The vet said his knees were going bad.

Mac has had a steady decline and we recognized it was our turn to be there for him. We made sure things weren't moved for him to bump into. It still happened

).

We made sure he was safe in the yard. He would get extra treats to keep him interested in food when his eating declined.

I have never met a dog like Mac. He was always in tune, calm, obedient, smart, loyal.

We always told him "he's the best good boy" "he's handsome" and even at the end when things got rough for him he would wag his tail.

Mac traveled, camped, went shopping, came to family events, and picked the girls up from school over the last 7 years.

Today we said goodbye to our battle buddy. It was time for us to be fair to him for all he gave us. Over the rainbow bridge there is no more pain, he can chase his tennis balls, find sticks, play with June, Elvis, Sampson, Moose, and Cosmo and meet Andy who loves a lab!

Thank you friends and family who have loved him as much as us!

Rest easy best good boy! You will always be handsome!

Love,

Your girls.
