K9 Rex
February 10, 2025

The year was 2015. At this time things were dark for S6 founder Ed. He was in the same bad way as many of our recipients are when they first joined the S6 Family.

Thankfully, Rebuilding Warriors in CA was there to step in and stepped up to give Ed his 1st service dog named K9 Rex.

Rex was a Belgian Malinois rescued from California who turned into a strong young man with a mission. Rex’s mission went FAR beyond pulling Ed out of the trenches. Rex helped alert Ed to his low blood sugar, kept him sober, told Ed when it was time to get up and go to bed. Rex also help stepped in front demons… the kind of mental demons that were going to take Ed’s life.

For that… because of this… in honor of Rex… along came Soldier’s 6. In 2016 we awarded our 1st recipient with their 1st service dog and haven’t looked back. We never will look back. Our foot is on the gas and whooping ass of the demons that are out there. The demons that will take away our first responders and veterans.

We are north of 250 service and therapy dogs awarded to recipients, police/fire departments, and mental health professionals.

K9 Rex started this for 🫵.

Sadly, on Monday, February 10th, 2025 at almost 0030 hours, K9 Rex passed away at home surrounded by his family, K9 Dez, Bosco and Jasmine.  Rex had his whole life surrounding him and got to pass the way he wanted peacefully.

The Rainbow Bridge had a badass crossover last night.   It hurts to say goodbye but the amount of positive energy Rex left behind… it’s something unfathomable. Take a look around… look at how far we have come!

It started because of a stray Belgian Malinois in California and has ended in saving countless lives from being taken and hundreds of rescued dogs now with a mission to carry out life saving measures for their person.

Dogs are God at work. Rest well Rex. We have it from here. We all love you.

K9 Doc
June 19, 2025

A little after 2 pm today, our world, Mikes world stood still. The gates opened and the great German Shepherd from Hungary, K9 Doc,  made his grand entrance at the rainbow bridge. He was a fierce leader, a loyal partner and the greatest boy to protect his dad, Officer Mike. Life will never be the same without the gentle giant, and I don’t think time will ever heal the broken hearts left in his passing. I do know, that any Kongs at the rainbow bridge will now become his. It’s just Docs rules. His world. We just lived in it. I can speak for all of us when I say he will be forever missed. A void that will echo daily and a love that will last a lifetime. He was tired and he was ready. Go fetch em all up buddy. I am sure K9 Rex is waiting for you. Look over all of us and protect your dad from above. He will always need you.  Don’t forget about us down here. Until we meet again our sweet boy. Close those tired eyes.

A K9 this great, with a stellar career deserves his final radio call. He loved getting his vest on and going to work. He was an amazing bad a$$. Thank you once again to our friends at Blackberry Veterinary Center, PLLC. Thank you will never be enough.

"Valley Com K921……..Valley Com K921…….. All units, stand by for a final call. This is the last radio transmission for K9 Doc, beloved partner of Officer Mike. K9 Doc faithfully served with Mike at Tukwila Police Department for 6 years as a Single Purpose Apprehension Dog.

🐾 Achieved Master Handler Status with Mike

💙Over 500 deployments

🐾Over 300 captures of bad guys/girls

💙Zero bad bites/accidental bites

Today, we honor a hero—not one who wore a uniform, but one who wore a badge on his collar and carried bravery in his heart. K9 Doc served not for recognition or reward, but out of loyalty, instinct, and love for his partner and community.

Through long nights and dangerous days, Doc stood by Mike's side—first through the door, last to retreat, and always ready to protect. He asked for nothing but a command, a pat on the head, and a chance to serve. And he gave everything.

Though Doc's watch has ended, his legacy remains. In every life he protected, every call he answered, and every silent moment between a handler and his dog, we remember him.

K9 Doc, you are 10-7 Your duty is done, your leash is laid down, and you’ve earned your rest. Mike will carry your memory from here.

Rest easy, Doc. You were a good boy—our brave boy—and you will never be forgotten.

K9 Doc this is your final 10-7
