End of Watch

2025-02-28

I hate writing these posts. The heartbreak never seems to stop. How we keep moving is beyond me. But yet, it’s human nature, and we find ways to power through. We have to. We have no other option.

I believe dogs are put in our lives to show us the good,  teach us unconditional love and how to live. When they go, they shatter our hearts in ways we never thought possible, and their love, presence, and life lessons will live on in our memories.

Friday, 2-28-25, our 2nd S6 dog to enter our program passed away peacefully with her battle buddy at her side. Her quality of life was starting to slip, so much so, it was no longer fair to her. She was having numerous seizures. Her battle buddy made the heartbreaking decision, yet the right decision, to help end her pain and let her join all of the greats at the rainbow bridge. She enjoyed a 14 oz steak and a big bowl of redi whip as well as a time at the park playing with her dad the day before.

Zeva, thank you for being amazing. Thank you for helping your dad through it all. We hope you rest easy sweet girl. I am sure K9 Rex was waiting to welcome you at the rainbow bridge. Send him our love will you. Our hearts hurt as Heaven gained another good one.
