Mike K-9 Flynn

K-9 Flynn

My name is Michael Morey, many call me “Mike” I was born and raised in the Twin Cities area. I have 4 amazing children. 3 boys and 1 beautiful daughter. Ages that range from 12-30 years old. I am currently living in Apple Valley, MN with my daughter part time. I also recently had the opportunity to be engaged to my soon to be wife, Cheyenne. For the past 11 years, I have worked for BNSF Railroad and still currently do.

I enlisted into the Army when I was 17 years old, my junior year of high school. I did 4 years active Army and 6 years reserves. A total of 10 years. I went to basic at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. From there, I did advance initial training, also known as A.I.T at Ft. Bliss, TX. In active duty, I was crew chief for the Air Defense Hawk missile system. Then I was stationed in Germany, where I spent 3 years and loved every minute of it. During the First Persian War Gulf war I was never deployed but I was on the highest alert on tac site.

After I got out of the war, I joined the Reserves in 1995. On a night that I can recall and will not forget. We were on a night convoy, where we lost a brother and fellow soldier. I was in 2 vehicles ahead and watched as everything unfolded that sad night. After that, my life had taken a turn for the worst. Anxiety and depression were just some of the things I have dealt with. I was also diagnosed with PTSD.
Soldiers 6’s is very important to everyone, especially for veterans dealing with PSTD. When I think of Soldiers 6’s, I believe they’re a blessing in a disguise. What would complete my family would be the support of a service dog.
